It is official; the holiday season is coming! The COVID-19 cases are dropping (Thank God!), and parents are busy looking for fun and attractive places for fantastic family time. After almost two whole years of being shut out of the outside world, there are many places you can visit to sprinkle a little sanity back into your lives.
What better way to discover these attractions than by utilising the LRT stations. No time to service your car? Worried you will get stuck in traffic? No problem!
Here are the places you can visit via the LRT stations. Hassle-free holidays, here we come!
1. Central Market (Pasar Seni)
Initially built as a wet market in 1888, Central Market is the heart of Malaysian culture, arts, and crafts. It is a go-to destination for tourists and art lovers. Home to more than 300 shops selling local handicrafts, souvenirs, collectables, textiles, and restaurants – Central Market brings a Malaysian flavour to the bustling city.
How to get there?
Central Market is only a 5-minute walk from the Pasar Seni LRT station, with primarily flat areas via Jalan Hang Kasturi.
2. Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve
If you are a nature buff, hiking at Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve is perfect for you. Families can enjoy discovering new species of flora and fauna throughout the forest trail. The forest, located near an urban area, is popular with families during weekends; hence, parking could be an absolute nightmare.
How to get there?
Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve is a mere 10 mins drive from the Bandar Puteri LRT station. All you need to do then is hail a taxi or book a Grab, and you’re off to an extraordinary hiking experience.
3. Farm in the City
Inspired by the Malaysian kampung (village) style, Farm in the City combines the local elements with wildlife and nature. It aims to enlighten and entertain visitors on the kampung lifestyle and setting. What sets Farm in the City apart is its petting-zoo concept.
Here, visitors can interact with more than 100 species of not only tame but exotic animals too. So, your children can pet and take pictures with the adorable rabbits and guinea pigs. Not only that, the free-flight aviary houses over 300 of our feathered friends worldwide and more than 100 Malaysian birds.
How to get there?
From the Puchong Perdana LRT station, hail a taxi or book a Grab for a short 15-minute ride to the farm.
